There is a small correction. The song ‘Mere Shyam Tera Naam Bole Mann’ is not by Madhukar Rajasthani & Khayyam Saheb. It is by Rajesh Johri and Pt. Shivram instead. There is another Bhajan ‘More Shyam More Shyam, Pal Pal Mere Mukh Se Nikle’ is by Madhukar Rajasthani and Khayyam Saheb. In LP also, it is this song only. I think the mistake happened due to similar words (Editor’s Note: This is the reason).

All the Bhajans by Rafi Saheb, penned by Madhukar Rajasthani and composed by Khayyam Saheb are out of the world. ‘Paaon Padoon Tore Shyam’ is my most favourite.
Khayyam Saheb during a visit at my residence mentioned something about these Nonfilm songs by Rafi Saheb. In his words – ‘रफ़ी साहब एक बार मेरे पास आये और कहने लगे कि मैं कुछ ग़ैर फ़िल्मी भजन और ग़ज़लें आपके डायरेक्शन में गाना चाहता हूँ । मैंने कहा ठीक है लेकिन मेरी एक शर्त है । वह बोले वह क्या ? तो मैंने कहा कि जिस दौरान आप ग़ैर फ़िल्मी गीत रिकॉर्ड कर रहे होंगे, आप कोई भी फ़िल्मी गीत नहीं गायेंगे और वह बोले मुझे मंज़ूर है । और साहब देखिए क्या अलग क़िस्म की आवाज़ निकल कर आई और कितनी शिद्दत के साथ उन्होंने गाया’
