Oldtimers will recall the famous Doris Day Song, "Que Sera Sera ... Whatever Will Be Will Be" from Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much. The song is very beautiful. It was released in 1956 and was written by the Jay Livingston and Ray Evans song writing team. It even received the 1956 Academy Award for Best Original Song. The song was extremely popular in its day. Here is the first part of the lovely song for your listening enjoyment:-

The song was also a vital part of the climax of the iconic movie for which it is remembered till this day. Enjoy it below:-

Not surprisingly, an Indian song inspired by it came soon. I came across this song through a post of Sankar N Manicka on i2fs mailing list and was amazed by it. Thanks to him for sharing it. It belongs to the telugu movie Aravalli(1957). This song "chinna pennana podhile" is sung by legendary singer Jikki.  It seems to be inspired not just from the tune but also from the lyrics. Here is the song for your analysis of this:-

This was not the end of it though. Two years down the line, veteran composer, Sachin Dev Burman seems to have got mildly inspired by it for the Kagaz Ke Phool song, Hum Tum Jisse Kehte Hain Shaadi. The composer however gives it a different twist. Enjoy Rafi sahab singing this song:-

The song even inspired a Gujrati one sung by Mukesh as pointed out by Debabrata on the i2fs list. Here it is for your enjoyment.

The song continues to inspire lots of covers like the one by Connie Francis and of course the recent murder of it by Miley Cyrus. But then, there's something special about the original.
