Yes, it is a fact that D.N.Madhok had said during 1944 that MD: Naushad Ali was a genius at the "musical sucess" of RATAN ('44).

Rather, I would state now, the other way round - It is D.N.Madhok who is the real "genius" making scapegoats of MDs: Naushad Ali; Khemchand Prakash and Jnan Dutt as well.

Song writer Madhok was the only writer during the 40s-decade who used to come out with a 'tune' for every new song penned by him to the MD concerned. This was a very potent means of an IDEA to the MD concerned who simply develops the CORE IDEA OF THE TUNE and gives the finishing touch to the 'product invented by Madhok'. Naushad Ali, then just 23, was struggling very hard with miserable musical flops of his earlier six ventures.

A new MD: Gulam Mohd  had just made an entry with MERA KHWAB in 1943 which also was a terrible flop. There is a saying: Nothing strikes like LUCK ! And during the same year Gulam Mohd joined with Naushad Ali to form a latent pair since GM was  the pupil of well known singer ( or MD) Ali Bux of those days. The pair had an added 'spice' for them in song writer D.N.Madhok for their first venture in NAMASTE ('43).

Just listen to the famous song in that film: Jadugar mori.... by G.M.Durrani
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The TREND continued with the super musical success of RATAN ('44) . is to be very carefully noted that it was Gulam Mohd's ENTIRE BRAINWORK from start2finish of every song composed.NAUSHAD ALI was the BRAND NAME.

Later on over the years, Madhok pandered his 'wares' to MD: Khemchand Prakash  for the film: GAON ('47) .

Listen to the Karan Dewan solo: Naina besabri...
------------------------------------------------------

Madhok also tried to pander his wares to Md: Shyam Sunder...but the latter dismissed him by saying: Abey - tu MD hai ya main ! Jaa, jaa Naushad ko dikha - usko bahut zaroori hai !!

Please check your references - Naina Besabari - the singer is mentioned to be Manna Dey, but I too think it sounds like Karan Dewan. Is Karan Dewan mentioned singer in HFGK?
